The mission of the Bloomington Economic Development Corp. is to serve as a catalyst for attracting and retaining high quality jobs in Bloomington, Monroe County and to some extent, the region. A statement on its website says the BEDC is focused “on increasing opportunities for our citizens whether it’s through supporting our existing businesses, tackling workforce issues or fostering entrepreneurial activity.”
At the organization’s annual meeting Wednesday, President Lynn Coyne cited three specific areas that make 2016 a year of significant opportunities and challenges for the BEDC and economic development in general.
