Recipient of the prestigious TechPoint Rising Tech City Award Bloomington has a distinguished reputation for its investment in tech, which includes a solid track record of garnering and maximizing funding for new economic activity.

BEDC hosts the Bloomington Technology Partnership, a collaboration between the BEDC, the City of Bloomington, The Mill, Indiana University, Ivy Tech, and Bloomington’s top tech leaders. The Luddy School at IU offers degrees and certificates in cutting-edge tech, specializing in AI, quantum computing, and supersonics, as well as bioinformatics and computational biology, which combines computing with biology to make groundbreaking discoveries. Likewise, Ivy Tech has degrees and certificate programs in fields that include IT, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Technology. 

Our community is positioned on Interstate 69, an ever-growing technology belt that continues to attract and connect clusters of innovative businesses. Less than an hour from Indianapolis and Indianapolis International Airport, this strategic location is only four hours from Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Nashville, TN and a day's drive to 80 percent of the US population, ensuring our Tech Companies enjoy quick, direct access to and from major markets.

The Trades District is a locus of opportunity and innovation. In the heart of the Sci-Tech Corridor, it offers a rare blank slate of shovel ready land in downtown Bloomington. Its iconic skyline, a mix of renovated historic buildings and opulent new construction, gives it a cool vibe that attracts techies and creatives making it an attractive place for startups.  The Mill is Bloomington’s center for coworking and entrepreneurship. It serves as a business incubator and accelerator. Once startups are ready, they move to Class A Office space in The Forge. One of BEDC’s many successful initiatives was collaborating with the City of Bloomington to launch The Mill, and co-wrote the US EDA grant that funded The Forge.
